Uma embraces a warm, collaborative, and client-centred approach. She believes that therapy is most beneficial when it resembles a genuine conversation, built on trust, compassion, and genuine curiosity.

My Story

My journey into counselling kicked off with a genuine curiosity about people and the stories that shape our identities. After completing my Bachelor’s degree in Sociology at York University, I worked in a clinical environment, assisting patients through their fears, uncertainties, and life changes. These experiences really heightened my interest in emotional care and how we cultivate resilience in difficult moments. This passion led me to pursue my Master of Counselling at City University of Canada, where I’m continuously developing as a therapist and enhancing my understanding of human connection and healing.

My Approach

My practice draws on approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Solution-Focused methods to help clients explore their patterns, emotions, and develop new ways of connecting with themselves and others. I strive to cultivate a space where people can present their entire selves, where their identities, cultures, and lived experiences are respected and recognized as essential to the healing journey.
